How much can I earn with BYOB?
You'll receive a $100 enrollment bonus, plus earn $1.50 per kWh exported during events, so the more stored energy you share, the more you earn.
Will my backup power be affected?
No. We only export excess capacity above your configured backup reserve. You set your minimum backup level (typically 20-30%), and we never discharge below it. Your home remains protected during outages.
When do discharge events happen?
Events typically occur during hot summer afternoons when grid demand peaks. You'll receive 24-hour advance notice. Most events last 2-4 hours. Expect 10-15 events per summer season. You can opt out of any event.
Is this safe for my battery?
Yes. Event discharges are well within your battery's design parameters. We follow manufacturer specifications and never exceed safe discharge rates. Most batteries are designed for daily cycling, and program events represent minimal additional wear.
Can I participate with solar panels?
Absolutely! Battery systems paired with solar are ideal for this program. Your battery charges from solar during the day and can export that clean energy during events, maximizing your earning potential while supporting renewable energy.
How are payments made?
Payments are typically issued quarterly as bill credits to your utility account or via prepaid Visa card, depending on your utility. The $100 enrollment bonus is paid after your first event participation. Track all earnings in real-time via your dashboard.
